Yashira Valentín-Rosas, Ed.D. is an adjunct professor in the Department of English, College of General Studies, UPR-RP, where she teaches undergraduate courses in composition, literature, and language. She holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University-Commerce, a M.A. in English Linguistics from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, and a B.A. in Human Resources from the University of Puerto Rico. She also earned a Principal Certification from Lamar University. Her areas of interest include translanguaging, bilingual education, language ideologies, TESOL, digital learning design, and the intersections of education, equity, and community empowerment. She has extensive experience in curriculum development and pedagogy, and emphasizes culturally responsive approaches that foster critical reading, writing, and communication skills. She has presented and published her academic and pedagogical work in Puerto Rico and the United States, highlighting the role of language and education as tools for social transformation.
