H\u00e9ctor J. Mercado Soucy is currently completing his PhD in Caribbean Literature (ABD) from\u00a0the\u00a0UPR\u00a0College of Humanities\u2019\u00a0English Department. He has been teaching at UPR-RP\u00a0in\u00a0the Colleges of Humanities and General Studies since August 2016. He has received positive evaluations from peers, directors,\u00a0and students. He participates actively in meetings, seminars and committees, e.g. coordinator of the Academic Affairs Committee, BA thesis committee for the Honors Program, and is presently working on\u00a0APPU\u00a0committee for functional diversity faculty. He has been a guest lecturer online and in-person in Dominican Republic as well as locally. He has presented papers at conferences in St. Croix and\u00a0Ghana and\u00a0recently presented “Ecos\u00a0de Homero” (10\/2023) and “Ecos\u00a0de Virgilio” (3\/2024). He published the science fiction novel\u00a0<\/span>Our Legacy<\/span><\/i>\u00a0and is currently in the final stages of publishing the epic poem\u00a0<\/span>Lamp\u00edada<\/span><\/i>\u00a0(2025). He has also collaborated with other departments and programs such as PSAE, the University Studies for Incarcerated Individuals\u00a0Program\u00a0and the RISE scientific writing program.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
