    Michael Cucher is Associate Professor in the Department of English, College of General Studies, UPR-RP. He holds a PhD in English from the University of Southern California with specializations in Race and Ethnic Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Transnational American Studies. His essays have appeared in MELUS, Aztlán: A Journal of Chicano Studies, Diálogo: An Interdisciplinary Journal published by the Center for Latino Research at DePaul University, and Umbral. He also had an essay in the exhibition catalogue for the exhibit, “Emiliano. Zapata después de Zapata,” shown at the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City from 2019 to 2020. During the 2021-2022 academic year, Dr. Cucher received a grant for faculty at Hispanic-serving institutions from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to support his current book project, Writers of the Puerto Rican Diaspora and Jewishness: Theorizing Belonging Beyond the Nation with Arturo Schomburg, Piri Thomas, and Aurora Levins Morales.
