Brenda Ann Camara Walker is Professor in the English Department at UPR-RP. She holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum Development and Teaching and an M.A.in Teaching English as a Second Language. She is the former English Department Chairperson, Personnel Committee President, and has coordinated department committees, such as Academic Affairs, Computer Assisted Academic Writing and Intermediate English Course, Literary Contest and Bridges.  At the college level, she is the former General Studies Information Technologies and Assessment Co-coordinator, “Instituto de Verano-PIE” Director, and at the institutional level she was Puente-NEH Proposal Director. She was the recipient of a PRTESOL research contribution award and was the METRO TESOL President. She has been an item evaluator and developer for the College Board. She has trained and mentored teachers in the areas of ESL and bilingual education in Puerto Rico and abroad. Her latest publications are “Modelo para el Desarrollo de las Competencias de Comunicación a través de la Integración de Tecnologías de Discusión,” and “Meaningful Online Interactions and Writing Improvement.” She has offered numerous workshops and conferences included at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru, Harvard University, CTJ TEFL Brazil, ICDA Dominican Republic, TESOL Convention in Florida and Milwaukee, and as an in-house guest speaker in Colombia, Ecuador, Dominican Republic and Curacao.
