    Professor Frances M. Zapata Torres holds a Master of Arts in English Literature from the University of Puerto Rico and a second master’s degree in education with a specialization in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) from the University of Central Florida. She also earned an Advanced Certificate in Disability Studies from the City University of New York (CUNY). Her academic and professional interests center on disability studies and comic book studies. She has presented research on these topics at the Popular Culture Association (PCA/ACA) and, in 2019, was selected as a scholar for the PCA Summer Research Institute at Bowling Green State University. In addition to her scholarly activities, Zapata Torres is the editor of “Entre el Sol y el Solumedrol,” an anthology that amplifies the voices of Latino patients living with chronic illnesses.
