    Eva de Lourdes Edwards, PhD, is Professor of English in the College of General Studies, UPR-RP. She has also taught online graduate courses at Fairfield University in Connecticut in linguistics and sociolinguistics. Her doctorate is in applied linguistics to education from the University of Connecticut. Her ongoing research projects are in linguistic landscape in urban studies and the literary and linguistic presence of Celts and Indigenous cultures in the Caribbean. Some of her published articles are: Irish Identity and Piratical Resistance in the Caribbean, Barbadoes Water: Celtic-Afro-Caribbean Distilled Rum, and Indigenous Caribbean Sailing in Pre-Colombian Times.
